Family Name Plaque: Great Gift for Moms

Family Name Plaque:
A Great Gift For Moms

My mom really liked the original family name plaque that I did for our family. So she had asked if I would please make one for her. I decided to save it for a mother's day gift.

I would have had this posted sooner....but that's life! I'm so far behind in editing photos!! Ah! :-)

This is the plaque I did for her....

First I laid out my pieces to have a visual for what I wanted to create.
I started by painting a sun.....
Then I started building in the colors of a sunset.....

I blended that in with the sky.....
Then I added in some rolling green hills. I made sure to highlight the grass nearest to the horizon.
My mom's favorite color is purple so that's the color I chose to paint the word Family.
For the house I painted a solid light blue, then I painted the roof brown. I then added the dark red chimney with some detailing with brickwork. Next I added the siding lines and window shutters. Then the window box and flowers.
I painted some white highlights on the word Family then positioned them on the plaque to get another visual.
The fences I painted with a couple coats of white and then added the grass and vines. Then I dotted in the flowers.

I added the fence to my layout and painted in a walkway and some shrubs...
Then I painted the last name "Jones" and my parents anniversary date. I also painted a door and yellow light behind the window.
I added a doorknob and window on the door and painted the edge of the plaque white. Then it was finished. You can see more detailed photos and additional steps for the individual name plaques that hang off this in the original tutorial.

I added four plaques with our names below this. I think she was excited about it. :-) I know I love mine.  This would be a great gift to make your mother for Mother's Day, her birthday or even Christmas. :-)
